If you enjoy police procedurals, this is the book series for you. I love the characters, old and new, but also love how Hunter has let these develop as the series progress: it's not all about Adam, the others have their chance to shine through, while others take a back seat. The second I open the pages and see the character profiles (very helpful, btw!), I know it will be easy to catch up with the gang again. It is always like catching up with old friends you do not speak to much.

Once again, I absolutely loved the latest instalment in the Adam Fawley series. When they dig deeper, Fawley and his team discover a connection to a high-profile case from years ago and start uncovering skeletons in the closet. It looks like a burglary gone wrong, but DI Adam Fawley knows there is something more to this than meets the eye. On an isolated farm on the outskirts of Oxford, a body lies on the kitchen floor, having been shot at point-blank range. I received this book from Netgalley in exchange for an honest, independent review. Not sure, but still a fan and will still continue to read the next in the series! It's not made me go and look into that crime but it did make me wonder if that's why this particular book was more compelling than the others.

The one thing I found odd/very interesting was the note at the end about this story being based on a true crime. The mixed media (newspaper articles, police interviews, texts) as always keeps things interesting. I loved the character list at the beginning, to refresh the reader's memory it's very helpful when you're coming back to a series.

The twists, the turns, you're on the edge of your seat because you're not quite sure who the killer is, and then the end twist was kind of expected but not quite in the way it played out. In my opinion this is BY FAR the best of the DI Fawley books to date. Number six in the series really didn't disappoint. But who is it? And did the occupiers of the house know them? DI Fawley has a lot of investigating to do when this murder links to an old crime. Police are called to a remote farmhouse when someone hears a gunshot. I've been a fan of Cara Hunter's books from the beginning and have read them all in order of publication, so was excited when Hope to Die came up on Netgalley!
